Helen Sawyer Varner

Helen Sawyer Varner, 85, passed away at White Oak Estates on July 15, 2018 after a lengthy illness.  Born May 11, 1933, she was the loving wife of the late Otis Carroll Varner and the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Lee Sawyer.  She was the owner of The Missy Shoppe in Inman, SC for 43 years.

A lifelong member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church, Mrs. Varner served as pianist and choir director for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Tinsley (Johnny) and son Phillip Varner; her grandchildren Megan Souther (Brandon), Justin Collins (Courtney), Heather Moss (Josh), Kristen Varner (Joey); 9 great grandchildren; and sister in law Elizabeth McDowell.  She was predeceased by a sister, Irene Sawyer West.

The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:45pm Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Walnut Hill Baptist Church.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at the church conducted by Rev. Scott Lewellen and Rev. Gary Hensley.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank White Oak Estates for the excellent care and support given over the past 9 months.
