Welcome to the memorial page for

Dorothy Webster

March 16, 2017

Dorothy H Webster passed away on March 16, 2017 after battling lung disease.  She devoted her life to horses and fox hunting.

She was born in Port Jefferson, NY on June 5, 1941 to Eileen Campbell and Francis Glennen.  She lived on Long Island until she was 28.  During that time, Dotty worked for her mother at the Rocky Point horse stable and started fox hunting with the Smithtown Hounds.  Later she worked for the Stony Brook School for Girls as the Director of the Equestrian Program.

Dotty moved to the Tryon, NC area in 1969 and worked for the Holmberg's raising thoroughbreds, and training show and hunt horses.  At that time, she immersed herself in the rejuvenation of the Tryon Hounds, and served as Whipper-In and spent countless hours as a volunteer.  She stayed until 1975, and went back to LI to help her mother run the Rocky Point Stables.  Dotty returned to Tryon in the 80's and went to work for George Webster, well known Tryon horseman and Tryon Hounds former Huntsman, and ultimately married him. Together they ran BlueBound Farm.  She continued to be devoted to Tryon Hounds and served once again as Whipper In.

Throughout the years, Dotty had many friends, she mentored young people, and introduced many people to the sport of fox hunting.

Dotty was a member of the TRYON HOUNDS for 48 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tryon Hounds clubhouse on Sunday, 3/26 at noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tryon Hounds Gone Away Fund.
