Willyene (Wright) Shields

Willyene Wright Shields, 94, of Green Creek, passed away July 14, 2016.  She was the daughter of the late Humphrey and Sarah Kelly Wright and wife of the late Ralph Y. Shields.

She graduated from Asheville College in 1943 and retired from Greek Creek Elementary School as a school teacher.  She also taught in Holly Springs, Landrum and Tryon.  She was a member of Green Creek First Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher of the Ladies Sunshine Class.

She is survived by a sister, Martha Schiltz; a very special niece, Becky McAlister and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Malcolm and Humphrey Wright and three sisters, Lois Underwood, Edith McAlister and Luther McElveen.

The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00pm Saturday, June 16, 2016 at Green Creek First Baptist Church.  Services will follow at the church conducted by Dr. Don McIntyre and Rev. Alan McKinney.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
