MR. PHILIP H. HENDRICKSON OF 615 LAUREL LAKE DR., COLUMBUS, N.C., DIED MAY 16, 2017, AT HIS RESIDENCE AT TRYON ESTATES FOLLOWING A COURAGEOUS BATTLE WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE. 

PHIL, AGE 85, WAS THE SON OF THE LATE PHILIP AND DOROTHY HENDRICKSON. 
FOLLOWING GRADUATION FROM OTTAWA HILLS HIGH SCHOOL, TOLEDO, OHIO, PHIL GRADUATED FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI IN 1956 WITH A B.B.A. IN MARKETING WHERE HE MET HIS WIFE, ELLEN.  HE RECEIVED HIS R.O.T.C. COMMISSION AND SERVED IN THE ARMY TWO YEARS ACTIVE DUTY AT FAIRCHILD A.F.B., SPOKANE, WASHINGTON (ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY) AND 6 YEARS INACTIVE RESERVE DUTY.  PHIL WORKED FOR I.B.M. CORPORATION, 1958-2005, AND MANAGED BANKING CUSTOMER EDUCATION PROGRAMS AT THE I.B.M. BRIEFING CENTER IN CHARLOTTE, N. C.

PHIL, FORMERLY OF RIVER HILLS, LAKE WYLIE, S.C. (1984-2005) AND FOUR SEASONS, FORT MILL, S. C. (2005-2016), IS A MEMBER OF THE RIVER HILLS COMMUNITY CHURCH OF LAKE WYLIE.  PHIL WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE CHURCH, SERVING AS CHAIRMAN OF THE PASTORAL AND STAFF RELATIONS COMMITTEE, CHAIRMAN OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE AS WELL AS MANAGING THE SOUND SYSTEM FOR THE CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICES.  HE IS REMEMBERED FOR HIS WITTY SENSE OF HUMOR AND SHARP PERCEPTION WHEN PROBLEM SOLVING.

PHIL DEVOTED HIS EXTRA TIME TO SAILING, TENNIS AND RIDING HIS BELOVED HORSE, LESTER.

IN ADDITION TO HIS DEVOTED WIFE, ELLEN, PHIL IS SURVIVED BY HIS SON, KENT HENDRICKSON OF ASHEVILLE, N. C., HIS DAUGHTER, CHERYL SWANSON AND HER HUSBAND, CRAIG OF ROWAYTON, CT., HIS BROTHER, JIM OF LEXINGTON, KY., TWO GRANDCHILDREN, SEAN OF GREENVILLE, S. C., AND ALEXANDRA OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLA.  HE IS FURTHER SURVIVED BY FIVE NIECES AND TWO NEPHEWS.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS BROTHER, NED, OF TOLEDO, OHIO AND HIS SISTER, PHYLISS OF PITTSBURGH, PA.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT THE RIVER HILLS COMMUNITY CHURCH, 104, HAMILTON'SFERRY ROAD, LAKE WYLIE, S. C., SATURDAY, MAY 20, 2017, AT 2:30 PM.  THE REV. GAYLE MONTGOMERY WILL OFFICIATE.  THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FOLLOWING THE SERVICE IN THE GATHERING SPACE AT THE CHURCH.

MEMORIALS MAY BE SENT TO THE RIVER HILLS COMMUNITY CHURCH CAPITAL CAMPAIGN.  M. L. FORD AND SONS OF LAKE WYLIE, S. C. IS SERVING THE FAMILY OF MR. HENDRICKSON
