Ned Rupert Elder

Ned Rupert Elder, 82, of Columbus passed away on April 29, 2017. He was born January 21, 1935, the son of the late Sherd William and Emma Elizabeth Walker Elder and husband of Viney Ashley Elder.

He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was a textile worker.  He served in the US Marines.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Tony Elder (Janice), Bobby Elder (Lynn), and Jimmy Elder (Cathy);   a daughter, Betty Cogdell (Dewey); two brothers in law, Escar Clanton (Linda) and Steve Clanton; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday May 6, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brian Wilson.
