Since the first book given to me by my mother in law, I have endeavored to obtain all of the Cat Who books, including the short stories and parody by Robert Kaplow. I was speaking to the media specialist at our school (the new fancy name for librarian) and discovered she had never heard of the Cat Who. She does now and is finishing the series. I read all of Ms Braun’s books over the years. Found the first one at the airport, when I forgot my reading material for the trip. I always pictures Tom Sellick as the famous Q. Every morning, I have breakfast with a woman whose late husband was my client. One of the many things we have in common, is the Cat Who books we both had treasured. Her clean writing and soft mysteries are lost to the writings and movies of today.

My husband and I have read and re-read all 29 of Lilian’s Cat Who books repeatedly with much pleasure. During this shut-down we decided to read them in order again! They never lose their charm.

I was saddened to learn that she lived in Michigan much of her life and I never met her. My husband and I lived there during much of her life. What a missed opportunity! We see so much of Michigan in the books — Pickax, Moose County, and Brrr make us think of the Upper Peninsula. The big city reminds me of Detroit in the mid twentieth century.

Ms. Braun will never be forgotten. She left a delightful legacy for the future. God bless her family, publisher, and friends.

Lilian Jackson Braun has been one of my favorite authors for over 25 years. I've read and re-read her books numerous times and it always takes me to a happy place. I am not re-reading her books again about my favorite characters, Qwill, Koko and Yum-Yum. I started with the first in the series on my vacation to the Bahamas last May and have been consistently reading them in order. When I read her books it literally I feel as though I'm in the story. She was an incredibly talented author and she is missed every day. I hope the family takes comfort in knowing that her spirt will be kept alive forever as her fans continue to enjoy The Cat Who series.

I learned of the passing of this wonderful writer only recently. I started reading her books in the 70's and waited impatiently for more. As she started writing again, I was constantly looking in the book store for the newest chapter in the lives of Mr. Q, Koko & Yum Yum. I don't know what made me pick up a copy of book #22 and re read it earlier this year but I did. One of the reviews printed on the jacket went something like "every new boom in the series is like visiting old friends and catching up". I truly is. I went back to book #1 and have read every day since then. I am currently re reading The Cat Who Blew The Whistle. I have all but the first three books in hardback and still search for those to complete my collection. I started reading Ms. Braun's books because it am an avid cat lover and rescuer and her writing had me and still has me hooked. I want to move to Pickax in Moose County, 400 miles north of everywhere. From what I have read about Ms. Braun, she had a long wonderful life. I only hope I am as fortunate. I know it's very late, but to "The Husband Who" - you have my deepest sympathy. I will enjoy her writing for the rest of my life and I have my daughter's (ages 19 & 34) hooked as well! I hope the one day, I will have a complete collection of "The Cat Who..." In hardcover and my daughters will pass them along with their own memories of reading them onto their children.

I have read and reread the books written by this talented lady.  Family have given them to me for gifts.  I have an autographed one that I will always treasure.  When I read that Mrs. Bettinger stopped writing for awhile because mysteries were becoming full of sex and violence, I thought that this is the very reason I love them!  They are so well-written and done so tastefully.  My first encounter was with a book on tape that I listened to with my family (so family friendly) while we were traveling.  They have been my favorites ever since.  Strong coffee, cats, and a man who loves them.  There couldn't be a better combination.  She used many lovely words too, I love words.  Thank you and your wife over and over.  So sorry for your loss.

I've read most of Lilian's books starting about a year ago when I discovered The Cat Who Had 14 Tales. Now I'm down to the last 4 or 5 of her Cat Who... books. I truly enjoyed every one of them. I feel Quill, Koko, YumYum and the host of other characters Lilian brought to life in her books are a part of my life along with Pickaxe, Mooseville, and the other places in Moose County 400 miles north of everywhere. I came to the library to get a complete bibliography of Ms. Braun's "Cat Who..." books for my mother and found that she has passed away.  I wasn't sure if I should write this, but I wanted express my condolences.  My mother has loved the "Cat" books and over the years and when I needed to think of a gift I knew she'd appreciate I'd frequently get her one of Ms. Braun's books.  It became harder and harder to find one that wasn't a familiar title after a few years and looking sort of- slipped away.  

A few months before Christmas  I was in the excellent little resale shop at the Lucas Co. Public Library and found many (I think about twelve but honestly can't remember,) copies of her books on tape.  I bought them all and took them home to my mother.  It took her a while to listen to them.  she started to complain about trouble getting to sleep at night and I found out that she had found my father's old cassette player and began listening to each book.  She'd listen to them gradually at night before she dropped of to sleep with our Chihuahua Chiquita curled up in her bed next to her (we're dog-people.)  She complained much less about insomnia but started frequently asking me to see if there were any books published that she hadn't read.  I don't have inter-net and loathe smart phones so here I am to print out a Wikipedia entry and discover that Lilian Jackson Braun has passed away.  Her work brought much comfort to my Mom and on behalf of my mom Dorothy, myself (and Chiquita, Chi-Chi, and Puck,) I just wanted to say that she is missed.

I am so sorry I didn't know of Mrs. Braun's passing until I was redoing my facebook page and listing the books I had read. I realized I had read all of The Cat Who..... and started researching. I know she passed at 97 2 years ago and so did my mother at 97 and 2 years ago. Ms. Braun's books gave me so much joy and sometimes inspiration. I named my son Qwilleran Mackenzie in 2001 and wrote a letter to Lillian telling her about it and hoped she didn't think I was a weirdo for naming my son after her character. She wrote me assuring me she didn't think I was weird and said she was thrilled. My son has been living up to his name. I know Lillian is in a good place now. I am so glad she had a husband she lover enough to dedicate each of her books. Take Care and know.

Having only discovered Lillian's Cat Who.... books in the past two years, I was devastated to hear that there will be no more.  I'm still searching and collecting her books through the Internet and they will be kept, treasured, read and re-read many times and I will encourage my grandchildren to read them.  As soon as another book arrives in the post I drop everything, make a cuppa and sit down and read it from cover to cover.  One arrived this morning and I've just finished reading it.  Thank you Lillian for introducing me to Koko, Yum Yum and Quill and all in Moose County.  My condolences to Earl - The Husband Who..... and to all Lillian's fans throughout the world.  She has left a wonderful legacy behind.

I was saddened to read of Koko & YumYum''s ''mom''s'' passing.  I started reading "The Cat Who" books just a couple of years ago and when I found out for a curling co-hort that there was actually a series, I was thrilled.  Non more-so then when this same person gave me the series almost in it''s entirety that had belonged to her mom.  I started back at the beginning and even re-read the books that I read out of sequence, because I was now following the series.  I''m just two short and after 14 months, I continue the hunt.  I have to say that the one thing that has bothered me since reading the last book, is that the lovely barn was destroyed in a fire and Polly staying in Europe, and I hope that someone could ''retool'' a follow-up novel to say it was a nightmarish dream, that Qwill woke up in a sweat and everything was as it had been when he went to sleep the night before.....Polly at her place, Moose County enjoying, as best as can be expected, the summer tourist and KoKo and YumYum sleeping outside his bedroom door.  From the mom of Scruffy, Bumper and Tiger, REST IN PEACE LILLIAN and, deepest sympathy to you Earl, ''The Husband Who....''

Moose County may be anywhere but Pickax was in the Thumb of Mi.  I am from Bad Axe and my mother was a casual friend of Ms. Braun''s.  I will never forget my mom asking Ms. Braun for an autograph for me, as we both loved her books.  Ms. Braun came to our home and autographed several books for me.  To my delight, the autograph included a stamp from Koko, my favorite character.  Ms. Braun was so kind and gracious and I bragged for years about the best-selling author who came to our home.  I''ll never forget her kindness to me, and I still have all the books.  I was very sad to discover she is gone but I am grateful for the chance I had to meet her and grateful for the delight her books brought to me and my mother.

I was saddened to just learn of Ms. Braun''s passing.  I had a brief correspondence with her in the 90''s and still have the letters.  I hold them dear to my heart.

When I wrote her publisher making a request of Ms. Braun, I was shocked that I got a direct response from her.  It says a lot about her character to take the time to respond to my request, grant the request and then to go even further than I imagined.  

I moved from Michigan to Hendersonville about 6 years ago and remembered that Ms. Braun lived in Tryon.  I wanted so much to contact her, but did not want to intrude upon her personal space.  

It was very evident that she loved her husband dearly and I give him my condolences.  May God hold you in his hand during this time and ease your pain as time goes by.
