Dorothy Elizabeth Kirby

Dorothy Elizabeth Kirby, 89, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016 at home.  She was a homemaker and excellent cook who loved her family and was the long term family matriarch since her husband's death in 1982. 

Dorothy was the widow of the late Orville R. Kirby and the mother of Royce Dean (Gwen), Deborah Kirby Charnley, and Robert Preston Kirby.  She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Sharon Renee Wofford.  Grandchildren include, Adam Kirby (Julie) of Atlanta, Anita and Farrah Peeler of Landrum, Cory (Amanda) and Allison Bridgeman of Landrum, and Josh Kirby, currently deployed to Okinawa, Japan.   Great grandchildren include Kaelan and Aiden Peeler, Easton Snipes, Bryson and Victoria Bridgeman, Demi Waters, Sebastian Hernandez, and Caroline Kirby.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 1st, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Petty Funeral Home and a graveside service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. 

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills as the Hospice staff lovingly cared for and supported Dorothy and her family for many months.
