Donald B. Bartlett

Donald Bruce Bartlett aka Big D, Daddy, Papaw, Uncle Don passed away on the morning of January 6, 2018 at the age of 81.

He was born in Swannanoa, NC on August 15, 1936. He lived in Swannanoa, Charlotte, Denver, Monroe, and Tryon NC during the course of his life.

He worked as a meat market manager for most of his life. He loved his family, country music, football, food and fishing.

He is survived by a sister Faye Corn of Asheville, NC, a brother Fred (Bug) Bartlett Jr. of Swannanoa, NC, two daughters, Donna Orr (Rob) of Stallings, NC  and Kim Wohnig (Randy) of Landrum, SC. He loved his grandchildren Ashkin Merrikh, Hannah Orr, Sarah Burnett, Garren Orr and Sam Orr.

He was the type of man that other men wanted to be like. He was always easy going, quick with a joke and acted like a big kid with his girls and grandchildren.

The memories that friends and family have shared have the same theme of how Don made people feel so at ease and happy.

A memorial service will be held at Christian Creek Baptist Church in Swannanoa, NC on January 20th, 2018 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends prior to the celebration of Don's life from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.
