Alta Mae (Blackwell) Rhymer

Alta Mae Blackwell Rhymer, 78, of Inman passed away April 17, 2016.  She was the daughter of the late Annie Mae and Wilbert Blackwell. She was the beloved wife of Marion W. Rhymer.

Alta Mae was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, loved flowers, camping, serving others, and most of all, loving her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Kathy Anders and son in law Steve; a grand daughter , Stephanie McSwain and grand son in law Byron and a great grand daughter Mollie Mae McSwain "on the way." Two brothers, Dean and Gene Blackwell (Pat); three sisters, Erselle Robinson, Vernelle Clary and Geri Wyatt (Frazier).

She was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Rhymer and a brother, James Blackwell.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Petty Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Petty Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Matthew Bishop and Rev. Scott Lewellen. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank Frances, Megan, Gene, Geri, the Hospice House staff, and the New Prospect Baptist Church Friendship Class.  Special thanks to Brenda for love, compassion, and gentleness she provided for our beloved Mae Mae.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr., Columbus, NC 28722 and the Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd. Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
