Alfred Edward Beam, 84, of 3121 Powder Mill Road, Adelphi, MD died February 28, 2013. A native of Ellenboro, NC, he was son of the late James and Nana Parks Beam and widower of Jane Parker Beam. He was retired from the US Weather Service. He served with the Merchant Marines at the end of WWII and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Wofford College.
He is survived by a son, Norman Beam (Bobbie) of Virginia; two daughters, Arlene Beam of Virginia and Marie Kovacic (Eric) of Maryland; a brother, Mike Beam of Ellenboro; a sister, Priscilla Prescott of Forest City; three grandchildren and a great grandchild.
He was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Beam.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
